Beginning Stained GlassLearn the basics of stained glass from cutting glass to soldering.  This class teaches the copper foil technique.  Students make a beautiful 11” x 17” panel from start to finish and ready to hang in a window.  Tuition: $180.

Leaded Stained Glass Add a new construction style to your panel-making repertoire!  Learn lead panel construction techniques while completing a glass panel project.  Tuition: $180.

Glass Fusing - This fun beginning fusing class teaches the fundamentals of “warm” glass including fusing, slumping, and sagging techniques using frits, stringers, and cut glass.  You will also learn about using a kiln and different firing schedules to achieved different looks in your finished pieces.  Tuition: $375.

Mary Klotz: Glass Bead Making  -  This is one of our most fun beginner classes!  Learn basic techniques for forming glass beads using a torch and colorful glass rods. Tuition: $175.

Tools required: none                                          December 6, Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM

Ornament Blowing - Make eight tree ornaments using torches, frits, and stringers.  Unique gifts. Tuition: $80.  Private classes for 6 to 12 persons are available

Repair Class - Learn to remove and replace a broken piece in copper foil and in leaded panels.  Learn to determine the best approach to replacing a broken piece and then practice the techniques.  Tuition: $125.

Signing up for class: You are registered upon full payment of tuition. Classes are first come, first served.

Private classes: Most classes can be taught individually on your schedule for $60 per hour.

Cancellation Policy for our Studio Classes:  Enrollment fees less a 20% service charge will be refunded if cancellation is received 15 or more days prior to the first day of the class in which you are enrolled.  Cancellations received fewer than 15 days prior to the first day of class, 50% of the enrollment fee will be forfeited.  The remaining 50% is a credit redeemable toward future SGCS classes.  Please, no exceptions.

 

The following classes are not scheduled; call to schedule a private class.

 

Snowflakes, Glyphs, and Moravian Stars - Learn how to make snowflakes, which are cut-glass bevels; glyphs, which are window ornaments that use nuggets, jewels, and lead came; and Moravian Stars, the 3-d version of snowflakes.  Great holiday presents.

Pendants - Fuse exotic dichroic glass pieces into five striking pendants.  You’ll also learn the basics of sterling silver wire wrapping for hanging your pendants on neck chains (not included).

Boxes  -  Make an extraordinary glass box with hinged lid.  Decorate with jewels, jewelry, sandblasting, decorative soldering, and other special effects.

KaleidoscopeAn amazing 3-D project!  In this class we’ll make a kaleidoscope, incorporating sandblasting and decorative soldering techniques – a great gift!

Bas Relief Glass Formed Tile: Design It! – FCC Bas (bah) relief is a sculptural form that stands out from the surface of a work.  Literally, low-relief.  In this 2-hour session you'll design an 8" x 8" tile with a bas relief surface.  Start by cutting thin sheets of refractory materials and assemble them on a textured surface.  The surface will be used as a mold for the glass to form around. Sounds complicated?  It's not!  You can do this simple technique and have wonderful results!

Homemade Glass Beads – Make Your Own - FCC - Learn the basics of glass bead making using a hothead and map gas to create your very own glass beads.  By the end of the class you’ll have learned how to use glass rods and a torch, and will have created about 10 finished handmade beads.  Maximum enrollment is 8 students.  Wear closed-toe shoes and cotton or natural fiber clothing. No polar fleece or synthetic clothes.

Create a Fused Glass Tile – FCC - A brief bit of instruction and you are up and running, creating a truly one-of-a-kind masterpiece using a variety of colorful bits of glass, frits, and stringers.  In just a few hours you'll design and create your own one-of-a-kind 8" x 8" tile.

Ornaments: Blown Glass - FCC - Learn the techniques of creating fine art with glass. Create 6 decorative ornaments using torches, glass tubing, and frits.  The finished ornaments can be hung on a tree, in your window to catch the sunshine rays, or given to family and friends.  All materials are included.  Wear closed-toe shoes and cotton or natural fiber clothing.  No polar fleece or synthetic clothes.
